New Pressed Brick: Pressed Heritage Red Blend |
Where old meets new
January 2010

When designing something of real and lasting value, there's no substitute for the look and feel that can only be achieved when you craft by hand.
The Selkirk Crafted Collection of pressed bricks perfectly captures this devotion to timeless elegance and handcrafted beauty.
Selkirk's newest edition to the Crafted Collection, Pressed Heritage Red Blend, loses none of that desirable olden-day appeal whilst remaining a fresh and unexpected introduction.
Featuring colour variation, bar marking, face cracks, chips and irregular edges - Pressed Heritage Red Blend is perfect for projects seeking to reproduce the heritage, federation or cottage style designs of eras past.
Selkirk suggest the following tips to those considering Pressed Heritage Red Blend for their next project:
- Historical red brick buildings typically had a rolled (bar) or flush mortar joint. This mortar joint is generally still preferred for laying pressed bricks today, as it assists in creating that traditional appearance. The rolled or flush mortar joint also helps to disguise any edge irregularities.
- Pressed Heritage Red Blend does vary from batch to batch, so blending from several packs is important.
- The colours within this blend vary significantly from light doughy reds to darker cherry tones. It is always best to view the actual product prior to purchase, to understand the true beauty of this natural colour variation.
- Those wishing to colour-match with dated brickwork to extened the existing building should discuss your needs with you Selkirk Customer Service Representative.

New extruded brick range: Indigo |
Purple tones new to brick
October 2009

Selkirk has introduced a new colour to their extruded brick product profile - Indigo.
Blue-black toned bricks, such as Selkirk’s Moonshadow ranges, is now very popular and increasingly widespread in building designs. Following consultation with customers, Selkirk identified a desire for something new and innovative whilst in keeping with this darker-brick trend.
Drawing inspiration from the purple hues often seen on modern painted facades and interior designs, Selkirk developed ‘Indigo’. In just a short timeframe, Indigo has been widely adopted and selected for many new home designs.
Selkirk suggest the following tips for those considering Indigo for their next project:
- Lay bricks with a white or natural grey mortar, with a rolled joint, to bring out the colour of the bricks.
- Compliment the face brickwork with roofs, facias and windows in black, charcoal, grey and silver shades.
Contact Selkirk's Customer Service Team for more information and advice about building with Indigo. |
